The University Temple Children’s School community drives our success. UTCS staff and families enjoy coming together for regular social and fundraising activities. We are dedicated to providing ample opportunities for families, friends and staff to connect and contribute to this community in a variety of meaningful ways. We believe building strong relationships with families lays groundwork for children to thrive socially, emotionally and cognitively. At UTCS we strive to model an intentional, positive community for the young people we serve.
We kick off each school year with an evening potluck and open house. We invite families to come get to know each other, their children’s teachers and classrooms.
Apple Cider Press
In early October we gather together to press our own fresh apple cider. Everyone comes with a bag of apples, and leaves with a smile and some new memories…along with some cider.
A Saturday outing to a local pumpkin patch where UTCS families can celebrate the harvest season, mingle and meet new peers, play games, eat delicious food and pick pumpkins.
Every year the UTCS community gets all dressed up for Halloween! We march throughout school in a parade of strange creatures before heading out to meet our families for a stroll around the block. Businesses in the area look forward to waving at all the children in their wonderful costumes during our annual Halloween Parade proceeded by a treat-filled Halloween party on the play yard.
A potluck-style feast to send families off into Thanksgiving break. Families gather for lunch around dishes that reflect our families’ diverse backgrounds and family cultures.
We participate in an annual book fair fundraiser through the University Bookstore as well as an annual coin drive.
Each year the cherry blossoms bloom on the University of Washington Campus and we feel lucky to be located so close to campus. We pack up some blankets and a light snack and walk all the children over to the quad for a late afternoon picnic. Families are invited to join their children during a spectacular display of nature.
Summer BBQ Picnic
Families load up and head to Magnuson Park to grill and enjoy the Seattle Sunshine with friends, family and community members.
Orca Art Show
Our preschool program puts an art show on each spring displaying their growth and appreciation for different types of art. Family, friends and community are invited to come and see all of their hard work throughout their annual Art Camp.
Parent Board Events
Our Parent Board Social Committee puts on a series of events and fundraisers throughout the year that reflect the current culture of our community.
